Dear Friend:
You may recall the story of "Stone Soup," in which a hungry stranger arrives in a village, professing his ability to make soup out of only a stone. One by one, villagers come forward with a single ingredient to add--a carrot, an onion, a potato--and soon there is enough nourishing and delicious soup to feed everyone. Making and sharing Stone Soup is a beloved annual Lilliputian Montessori School event during the Thanksgiving season, and is particularly meaningful this year as we continue the tradition in our new home.
We have many reasons to be grateful at the new LMS, where the sounds of engaged and happy children fill the air. We are grateful for our bright sunny classrooms and natural playground with room to run and leap and play. We are grateful to the community of North Conway which has embraced our return in wonderful ways, and to the town of Jackson, which provided a lovely former home for our school. And of course we are grateful to our many friends who contributed their generous efforts and unique abilities to our move; much like "Stone Soup," these single "ingredients" combined to create a synergic whole.
Indeed, we have much for which to be thankful, but we also have much to do in the year ahead. Unfortunately, tuition alone cannot cover the programs that make LMS an exceptional environment in which to grow and learn. Through our Annual Appeal, we ask parents, former parents, grandparents, alumni and friends to help us bridge this gap. The crucial funds raised during the Annual Appeal benefit our school by supporting our extraordinary staff, providing financial aid to families in need, and funding special programs to enhance the curriculum, as well as other rising needs.
This year, we ask you to consider making a gift to our Annual Appeal in the collaborative spirit of "Stone Soup." Each contribution--no matter how big or small--helps nourish and sustain the traditions of this cherished school, while also supporting future generations of Lilliputians.
