Community Resources

At The Lilliputian School, our community is one of our greatest strengths. This hub was created so families have one place to find ways to connect, contribute, and feel supported at every stage of the school year.

Being part of Lilliputian means being part of a community that shows up for one another. Sometimes that looks like volunteering at an event, sometimes it’s passing along outgrown rain pants, and sometimes it’s just knowing how to dress for a cold January morning.

You’ll also find resources in the greater community (Mount Washington Valley) all right here!

Ways to Get Involved

There are many ways to support the Lilliputian community, big and small.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our community thrives because families share their time and talents. Whether you have an hour or want to help with a specific event, there are many ways to get involved throughout the year.

Examples may include:

  • Classroom or outdoor space help days

  • Event support and fundraising nights

  • Seasonal projects and campus refreshes

Board Involvement

Serving on the Lilliputian School Board is a meaningful way to support the school and contribute to its long-term vision. Board members work collaboratively with staff and families to support operations, fundraising, and community initiatives.

No prior board experience is required, just a willingness to participate and contribute.

Upcoming GearSwaps

Our community gear swaps are a great way to pass along outgrown items and pick up what your child needs for the next season.

Gear Swap at Apple Fest — September 20

The Board of Directors is organizing a FREE kids’ gear swap for Lilliputian School families.

FIRST: If you have any kid’s outdoor gear — coats, boots, snow pants, rainsuits, bibs, mittens, etc. — that you’d like to donate, please bring it to school during pick-up or drop-off and place it in the plastic tubs labeled “GEAR SWAP DONATIONS.”

THEN: Board members will gather and organize everything for the Gear Swap at Apple Fest on September 20th.

Gear & Outdoor Resources

Spending time outdoors in all seasons is a core part of the Lilliputian experience. These resources are here to help families feel confident and prepared year-round. Wondering what your child should wear on a chilly morning or snowy day? This chart can help families plan outfits based on the forecast.

What to Look for in Outdoor Gear

When choosing outdoor clothing, materials are key to comfort, warmth, and the ability to move freely are key for outdoor play in all seasons. Below are a few helpful guidelines to keep in mind when choosing outdoor gear.

Wool or wool blends
Warm even when damp and breathable, making them great for base layers.

Fleece
Lightweight, warm, and easy to layer under rain or snow gear.

Waterproof outer layers
Helpful for rain, snow, and muddy play. Taped seams are a plus when possible.

Insulated, waterproof footwear
Keeps feet warm and dry during extended outdoor time.

Avoid cotton on cold or wet days
Cotton holds moisture and can leave children feeling cold once wet.

Some families ask about brands that tend to hold up well for frequent outdoor play. While children do not need specific or new gear to participate, brands like Reima, Smartwool, Patagonia, Bogs, and Kamik are often shared as helpful references within our community.

Community Clean-Up Days

Throughout the year, families are invited to join community clean-up days to help care for our campus and surrounding outdoor spaces. These days are a chance to come together, spend time outside, and support the shared environments our children learn and play in.

Clean-up days are family-friendly, and children are welcome to participate alongside caregivers.

Upcoming clean-up days will be shared here as dates are scheduled.
