Seedlings
Ages 3.5 -6
The Lilliputian School’s Seedlings program is for children ages 3.5–6.
The Seedlings program blends outdoor-based learning with Montessori-inspired classroom experiences. Children spend their days exploring, creating, and problem-solving—building strong bodies, curious minds, and meaningful relationships. Seedlings walk daily to our Forest Classroom as part of their learning experience.
Growing Independence Through Play
Outdoor-Based Learning & TimberNook
Seedlings blend outdoor-based education with the Montessori philosophy. As a certified TimberNook school, children participate in the TimberNook program up to five days per week, walking daily to our forest classroom to engage in rich, sensory-based outdoor play. These experiences challenge the mind, body, and senses while allowing learning to unfold naturally through movement, curiosity, and exploration.
The Forest as a Learning Environment
In our forest classroom, children hike, climb, build, imagine, and collaborate in a sensory-rich setting designed to support child-led play. Each TimberNook experience is shaped by the environment, the season, and the children themselves, fostering creativity, resilience, and deep engagement.
Montessori-Inspired Indoor Classrooms
Our indoor classrooms offer a thoughtfully prepared Montessori-inspired environment where materials, routines, and aesthetics support independence and concentration. Children engage in child-led work across practical life, sensorial exploration, math, language, and cultural studies, building foundational skills at their own pace.
Movement, Confidence, and Coordination
Daily movement is central to the Seedlings program. Children carry, balance, climb, and explore both indoors and outdoors, strengthening physical coordination, confidence, and body awareness through meaningful activity.
Relationships That Support Growth
Consistent, experienced educators provide a nurturing and responsive environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to take risks, form friendships, and grow into capable, confident learners.
The Seedlings Day
Morning Outdoor Play
Each day begins outdoors, giving children time to move, explore, and connect with one another right away. Starting the morning outside supports regulation, confidence, and a joyful transition into the day.
Forest Walk, Snack & Story
Seedlings walk together to our Forest Classroom, where they enjoy a shared snack and a book in nature. This daily rhythm builds independence, community, and a strong connection to the natural world.
Lunch & Quiet Time
After walking back to campus, children gather for lunch followed by quiet time. This restful period allows bodies and minds to recharge in a calm, predictable environment.
Afternoon Work Period
After a short rest time, children are invited to work in our Montessori-Inspired environment. During this time teachers offer individual and small group lessons and children dive deeper into concepts and academics.
